Getting by in Phuket on a tight budget

Posted by: Phuket Rentals In: General Phuket

Due to the speedy growth of the population and development in Phuket, it gave a boom to prices over there making it a bit tough for backpackers who move around the places. Phuket used to be very economical in the earlier days. Don’t worry, there are some ways to make a your trip successful without a break through in budget.

Many lavish resorts have born on this island in very few days making the accommodation here a bit costlier. Health spas have also increased in huge number these days which are costlier to stay. You can a hire a bed for yourself paying few baht a night at guest houses. You should be choosy in selecting a decent Phuket guesthouse. You will find these also a bit costlier in most famous part of the island- Patong which is a busy place with street vendors and crowd, but you still can get a economical guest house if you roam around the place.

The backpackers can choose to stay in Kata and Karon which is a little less crowded than Patong. You can find some great deals for accommodation over there for lesser bucks. Once you find your place to stay, the next step will be to find good food place. It is as simple as that you will find in the streets. You can eat your belly full by spending less than 200 bath for the whole day if you select Thai street food as your choice, which contains rice and noodles as the main course of food. Don’t hesitate to experiment, have the food of your choice at the street hawkers by which you would be saving 10 times the cost you pay in a restaurant.

After having your food set up to go around the island. Transportation is one of the major problems in Phuket. You cannot find metered taxies around the island and they can be just found in the premises of airport only. Even though you find one taxi you may be asked to pay more amount than the actual fare. If it is out of your budget then you may choose tuk-tuks which are reasonably priced. Public transport is available only during the day time and not in nights. One more alternative is hiring a bike for several bahts a day for which you have to carry a license and a road map which helps you to find the way.

[...] Phuket is such a mystic place that even after what it seems like a thorough exploration, there are few more unexplored hot spots that many tourists let pass. One must definitely venture to travel around the isolated beaches and concealed islands. You might have to put up more effort to locate such places, however, the joy and pleasure on reaching the place is inexplicable and worth the effort. [...]
