One travelling to any other country except his home country is expected to carry correct visa documents with him or her, same for Thailand too. It’s noteworthy to carry originals with you for not getting any troubles with the immigration officials. Just forget about all the stories that you heard about the illegal transactions or bribes.
One can reach Phuket via airways and seaways. If you fly you will be given a tourist permit of 30 days and 15 days via other modes of transport (not possible to Phuket) as per the new laws. And mind you its only tourist visa and one can’t stay for working with that visa. Some officers will monitor on the tourists and their visa dates so that no tourist will stay longer than his prescribed time. You might be annoyed if you are not well planned, when you are checked with your documents while on the go only in the plane.
If you are well planned then it’s possible for you to get a cheap air fare in advance for the return journey too. If you are much eager to spend a lot many holidays of yours at phuket then it is suggestible for you to purchase the tourist visa at Thai consulate office outside Thailand from which you get a 60 day visa limit that can be extended 30 more days at immigration office, adding up a whole some of 90 days permit which is quiet good than the 30 day usual permit.
Do keep in mind that is also the tourist ones and you change it to a non-immigrant visa. A non-immigrant visa can be obtained from a Thai consular office out side the country.
As per the new immigration laws of the Thai government one can not stay for more than 90 consecutive days among the progressive 180 days, i.e after you complete 90 days of your tour in Phuket you have to leave, and you can not reenter into phuket for 90 more days.
You can go again there after 90 days only. To make it more understandable, if you go to Phuket in January of the year and stay up to march, you will have to leave the country at the end of march and you can only go enter again there only after completion of the month June. Better you return or stay up to the dates of visa, and avoid the problems caused by the police or immigration department.
