Patong Beach is definitely home to some “wild life”, –parties, night clubs, the gorgeous women of the night, escorts, sex shops, and more. But there’s more to the beach than crazy night life. With Phuket nearby, and plenty of beaches, and access to both small cities, there are plenty of people back and forth. So what kind of wildlife could there be in an area so heavily populated with tourists, and native people alike? Well, on land you’ll find the occasional gibbon, wild boar, or pangolin; a cut little scaly ball of sweetness, a bit like an armadillo but less gross. There are a number of different species of wildlife in the Patong and Phuket areas; you just have to venture out of your rental and take a look. Yeah, I know it’s hard to leave the luxury of a Eastern design rental condo or villa in Phuket, but you can do it!
But the real attraction to the wildlife in Patong Beach, is under the surface of the gorgeous blue water found at the beach. Snorkeling, scuba diving, and exploration of the reefs further out, is exciting and one of the most popular outdoor and wildlife discovery activities for both visitors, and the locals in Phuket and Patong Beach. It’s also something the whole family can enjoy; there are beautiful and colorful species of fish, occasionally sea turtles, crab species, and various other types of aquatic life for everyone to see. However, breaking off pieces of the reef, or taking fish with you, is ill-advised, –this area’s reefs are already suffering from tourist damage.
